The IELTS Diagnostic Test is a 30-minute online tool designed to give candidates preparing for the IELTS a quick and general overview of their current English proficiency. It has 36 questions covering a range of language skills—including reading, listening, vocabulary, grammar, written language, and spoken language—and provides a useful snapshot of overall ability.
While this test is not intended to assess full readiness for the IELTS exam, it offers an instant result aligned with the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), an internationally recognised framework for language proficiency. The test is ideal to monitor overall progress at the beginning of IELTS preparation or at any point during the process.
